Ask Freddy

A conversational assistant in FredSocial that uses FreddyReyes.com as its knowledge source, retrieving evidence from the site’s résumé and published articles to answer questions.

Ask Freddy is the question-answering feature in the FredSocial iOS app. It helps readers explore FreddyReyes.com articles and professional background through a conversational interface.

FreddyReyes.com is Ask Freddy’s knowledge source. The app loads the site’s résumé through its API, while the site backend turns that résumé and published articles into searchable evidence chunks. For each question, it ranks relevant article excerpts and combines them with résumé context before generating an answer. This is a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) flow built into the site’s AI search backend, rather than a separate RAG server.

If neither the résumé nor published articles support an answer, the backend returns a scope response without asking the language model to guess. Answers can link readers directly to relevant source articles.

In the app, Ask Freddy keeps a conversation across launches, sends recent answered exchanges as follow-up context, and renders formatted answers as selectable native text with tappable links. Readers can copy, share, retry, or archive conversations, and use Siri to ask and hear an answer without opening the app.

The in-article assistant can summarize an open article and answer questions in its context. Ask Freddy also includes subscription plans and a paywall flow; quota meters and some optional follow-up and feedback integrations depend on additive backend support.
